FAQ

FAQ
Where does my massage treatment take place?

Your massage treatment takes place in our warm, comfortable and quiet treatment room. Upon request, quiet music will accompany your massage session. Of course, you can bring your own CD's for this, or talk to your therapist. Our treatment table is adjustable and adapts to your individual comfort.

Do I have to undress completely?

Since massage therapy implies the use of massage oils or lotions, it is advantageous to remove as much clothing as necessary for the treatment. The main thing, however, is that you feel comfortable. During your treatment, you lie under a soft and clean towel all the time so you do not get cold. Only the body region that your therapist is working on remains uncovered. While you get changed, your therapist leaves the room and you call him/her in when you are done.

On which body areas does a massage treatment focus?

This differs depending on time. In 30 minutes, you receive a partial body massage (for example the classic shoulder-neck massage, a back massage or a sports massage on your legs). The whole body massage (both legs and arms, chest, belly, neck and back) extends over 60 minutes or 90 minutes. What kind of massage is the most suitable for you will be explained by your therapist during your medical interview. The genital area is excluded from treatment.

How does a massage treatment feel?

This varies according to treatment technique. As a starting point for our treatments, we use the basic principles of classical massage. In general, a classical massage treatment begins with far-reaching, flowing strokes which soothe the nervous system and reduce tension in the muscles. As the degree of relaxation of the body increases, the pressure is gradually increased and focused on the most tensed bodily regions. We use special massage oils or massage creams to enable a gentle glide over the skin and avoid unpleasant skin friction. The oil also helps to provide your skin with valuable moisture and nutrients, thus keeping it elastic and youthful. Please tell your therapist if he/she is exerting too much or too little pressure on the muscle parts. Massage therapy is most effective when you feel comfortable all over.

Are there different treatment methods?

Depending on the school and tradition of the therapist there are very different treatment methods. The specialty of this massage therapy practice is the "three-phase treatment model: IDENTIFY-INVOLVE-ReLEASE" developed by Maya Tabea Sievert.

How much time should I plan for a massage treatment?

The average whole body massage takes about an hour. A 30-minute appointment is only sufficient for partial body massage (eg. shoulder-neck, back, head, legs). Many people prefer 90 minute massage sessions in order to be able to relax optimally. Please also plan 10 - 15 minutes for the medical history and preparation. If possible, allow sufficient time before and after treatment to allow your body to rest. Hot baths and saunas help the treatment success as well as a nap or a short walk. Please make sure you drink plenty of water after your massage session. An increased supply of liquids supports the purification process and the regeneration of the body.

How should I act during the massage treatment?

Make yourself comfortable and relax. Your therapist will either move you carefully or tell you when you need to change your position. Many people simply close their eyes, switch off, and leave the everyday stress behind them. Others prefer to talk. If you have any questions about massage therapy in general or the selected treatment method in particular, your therapist will be pleased to help you.

How do I feel after the massage?

Most of our patients feel "like being reborn" after their masage therapy session. In most cases, the freedom of movement, which until then has been limited by the muscular tensions and shortenings, is restored. A short period of pleasantly relaxed drowsiness is followed by the feeling that you have gained new energy in order to be able to master everyday life better. Please remember to drink a lot (water, tea and / or fruit juices) on the day after your massage treatment, and allow yourself to sleep about 1 - 2 hours more at night than usual. Both supports the regeneration processes of the body stimulated by the massage. Your health will thank you!

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

Massage therapy can contribute significantly to the treatment of acute and chronic muscle tension and to relieving pain caused by them. In addition, massage therapy promotes local blood circulation, strengthens the cardiovascular and immune systems, promotes the mobility of the joints, reduces physical and mental fatigue and stress, promotes muscular healing processes, improves body posture, and decreases blood pressure. Massage therapy has also been shown to promote healthy REM sleep, improves concentration, is anxiolytic, and brings about a generally improved physical condition.

Are there contraindications for a massage treatment?

Yes, there are. This is why your therapist will go through your client information form with you before your first appointment. Examples of contraindications are: acutely infectious diseases such as influenza, scarlet fever, mumps, chickenpox etc., large-area open wounds or burns, tendency towards thrombosis or venous infections, certain types of cancer.
